Google's entire job is to give people answers to what they are searching for. If that result can't be attained, Google doesn't exist. People will go somewhere else.
Google has gotten very good at providing what people are searching for. The same for Bing, the same for Yahoo.
We use Google because it's the largest in the industry and the first that comes to mind but all the search engines do the same thing.
This is important to your local business especially when you're in the restoration industry. This is what separates people from getting a few leads a month to dozens of leads.
From being just another fire and water damage company in the city to being the expert in the city. It's all about perception.
If Google thinks you're in authority others will think you're an authority as well.

It's really this simple. If you're trying to figure out the best way to do local SEO ask yourself if you're doing this.
Local SEO can quickly be improved by implementing NAP+W consistency. NAP + W consistency.
You're probably asking yourself, "what the heck are they talking about? I don't know what NAP+W is!"
What is NAP+W?
It stands for Name, Address, Phone Number, and Website. Are these 4 things consistent across the web?
Here's how Google works:
Google is doing is the same thing that consumers do on their own.
If you're trying to find a business, what do you usually do?
You Google it.
Then you go look for other sources of information about that business.
You're trying to figure out if they're credible. You want to see if other people have done business with them and see what their experience was.
Google does the same thing.
Google has all of these automated website bots that go out and look at all of these different online sources of information about local businesses.
They bring it back to Google and tell Google, "hey, this place is legit" or "this place isn't."
What makes your business seem illegitimate?
If the name of the business, the address of the business, the phone number of the business, or the website of the business are inconsistent - it seems illegitimate.
2) Why does NAP+W consistency matter to your restoration business?
Let's tell a quick story:
Suppose Google looks up an address and it finds the name of 10 different businesses.
That confuses Google.
Why would Google want to serve that up to someone who's searching? It isn't trustworthy.
How does Google feel about that? Probably something like this....
Suppose the business name is the same but the address is different everywhere online?
How can Google possibly serve that up to people?
People won't know where to go.
How will they feel about that? Our best guess....
What about the phone number? What if the phone number is different all over the place?
Well Google is not going to serve that up as a result to searchers. How would people possibly contact the business and get a good experience?
Same for the website. What if the website URL is different in five different places?
How does Google know what to serve up to people who are searching?
You get the point.
This is a huge component of local SEO.
In order for Google to trust you, your information needs to be consistent across the web.
3) Okay, so how do we implement this to help our business's local SEO?
Does this really improve SEO?
People that are good at local SEO have figured out how to make the name, address, phone number, and website of their clients consistent across the web.
They make sure it's available in many places across the web. Not just Google My Business. Not just on one website.
They make it available on hundreds.
Because that's 100 different sources telling the search engine that your business is legit.
So if you have a water restoration company, ask yourself this.
Is the name of your website, your phone number, your address and the name of your business consistent across the internet?
Is it available to be found on hundreds of different websites?
Is it available? That is the key.
Reviews also comes into play. This goes back to what we were speaking about previously.
Reviews provide credibility and authenticity.
The more reviews the better because this is essentially hundreds of authoritative sources telling Google, "this place is legit."

Well there's places that are called data aggregators. These data aggregators are a central hub.
It's kind of like an airport. The airport terminal is the hub. Each gate is a different source of information.
There's four main data aggregators. They push information to hundreds of other websites that have local business information. Hundreds of other websites pull information from them.
They're like the terminal at an airport with dozens of gates that provide access to the business information. You must submit your information to these four data aggregators.
You can excel at local SEO for your water restoration or fire restoration company.
You make sure that the name, address, phone number, and website are consistent.
You make sure that they are widely available across the Internet.
Vastly available across the Internet and that there are reviews to back your business up.
4)How do we know this NAP+W strategy works?
Naturally, you have some skepticism.
"Will this work for me?" is one of the biggest questions we get.
